rafiqnawab@awkum.edu.pk Dr. Nawab’s PhD thesis is an extensive and original study of the connections between postcolonial and post 9/11 literature. Through analysis of diasporic Pakistani fiction, Mr Nawab underscores the traumas and trials faced by youths in these texts, and concludes that the processes of othering, violence and humiliation commonly associated with coloniality, are now determining features of how brown and Muslim people are treated in the so-called post 9/11 era. This thesis also details the varied and intersecting ways in which such youths attempt to resist such violent forms of inscription. Mr Nawab’s thesis is an important study in the field of contemporary literary studies. |
